Last Chance Tournament - BWS - October 28, 2023
We organized this competition to enable as many Belgian athletes as possible who had not yet qualified for the Belgian championships to achieve the minimum requirements for access to these championships.
Not only did many of them achieve this objective, but we were also delighted to see 2 female athletes achieve the minimum requirements to take part in the European Championships: Yasmin Bader from the Gent club and Paula Mroz from our club!
We were at home, which explains the strong BWS participation in this competition: 17 athletes out of a total of 30, many of whom already had their ticket for the Belgian championships. While Paula qualified for the European championships to be held in Hungary in February 2024, Dimitra, Ka Lok and Maelle secured their tickets for the Belgian championships. Mission accomplished!
The medal harvest was good: Seppe Housen won the award for best Sinclair result in the men's category and also set 3 new Belgian records in his category (-109kg), while Paula of course won the award for best Sinclair result in the women's category and Susie took 3rd place. And the PR's harvest was just as good: 11 of the 17 BWS athletes signed new records.
