The Brussels Weightlifting School will have the honour of organising the Belgian Weightlifting Championships during the weekend of 29 and 30 November 2025 at the Albert Demuyter municipal sports centre.
Our country's elite, which includes no fewer than three Olympians this decade and has a strong presence at European level, will gather at the Ixelles municipal stadium to compete for the national title in ruthless competitions that are sometimes decided by a matter of kilograms.
The athletes will have three attempts at the snatch and three attempts at the clean and jerk, movements that consist of lifting the loaded barbell above the head, with or without a pause on the shoulders. The best attempt in each movement will be added together to form the total. The athletes with the three best totals will be the medallists.
The competitions are divided into weight and gender categories; and contrary to popular belief, women are not left out, as some 58kg athletes will lift no less than 100kg above their heads!
In addition to medals by gender and weight category, trophies will also be awarded to the top three men and women across all categories. We will also have the honour of welcoming Nabil Messaoudi, Deputy Mayor for Sports in the municipality of Ixelles, who will present some of the medals to the winners.
